How it works
How we model your medication level
A standard pharmacology model using the half-life and time-to-peak published in each medication’s FDA prescribing information.
Sources: Wegovy (semaglutide) and Ozempic Prescribing Information, Novo Nordisk, §12.3; Zepbound (tirzepatide) and Mounjaro Prescribing Information, Eli Lilly, §12.3. Absorption rate estimated from the label time-to-peak and half-life. Illustrative model, not measured drug levels.
1
Absorption after each injection
After a weekly injection, the level rises to a peak in about 1–3 days for semaglutide and about 1 day for tirzepatide.
2
Gradual clearance
Your body clears about half the medication every ~7 days (semaglutide) or ~5 days (tirzepatide), so each dose overlaps the last.
3
Building to steady state
With weekly doses, levels build up and level off after about 4–5 weeks. We show your level as a % of that steady-state peak.
Tips
Understanding your weekly cycle
Levels rise and fall
It’s normal for the level to be highest a day or two after your injection and lowest before the next one.
Dose changes reset the build-up
When your dose increases, it takes a few weeks for levels to settle at the new steady state.
Everyone responds differently
Appetite and side effects don’t always follow the curve exactly.
